In 30 league games, KCB have scored just 31 times, the lowest of the current top six sides in the division.

KCB FC head coach Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno believes his side need to work on becoming more efficient upfront to stand a chance of closing the gap on league leaders Tusker FC in future seasons.

The Bankers drew 0-0 with David Ouma’s Sofapaka at the Kasarani Annex on Monday afternoon, throwing their slim title hopes outside the window.

Zico played all his center forward options, Kennedy Owino, Francis Kahiro, and Nicholas Kipkirui yesterday. However, none of the three managed to find the back of the net as Batoto ba Mungu frustrated them to a stalemate.

“It is a concern which has been affecting us not only in this game but also in other matches as well. We are not scoring. It is a concern that we need to address moving forwards.

"We are creating chances. In the Premier League, I think there is no team that creates better chances than we do. When it comes to turning chances into goals which is the most important thing, we do not do it.”

Zico’s charges possess the joint-best defensive record in the league alongside Nzoia Sugar. They have kept 15 clean sheets and conceded just 17 goals all season.

However, they have struggled to replicate that form in front of goal. In 30 league games, they have scored just 31 times, the lowest of the current top-six sides in the division.

“We need to sit down with the players and technical bench to see how best we can approach the last three or four matches.

"It is something that is a problem for us, not just for the technical team but also for the players. We cannot keep missing opportunities."

A win for KCB would have put them on 56 points, level with Kenya Police but with an inferior goal difference to the Law Enforcers.

“We had planned to come and win the game but it did not happen but that is football,” he said, “You can only record three results and always we receive them with dignity,” he added.

“On the plus side, it is one point and we receive it with dignity. We now think about the next game going forward.”
