Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has come out to defend goal-drought stricken Marcus Rashford to get back to his absolute best.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has expressed confidence in Marcus Rashford's ability to bounce back from his recent goal drought, despite the English forward facing criticism for his form this season.

Rashford, who provided a key assist for Alejandro Garnacho in Manchester United's 2-1 win against Brentford, has only netted once in eight Premier League appearances this season.

However, Ten Hag believes Rashford's potential remains undeniable, citing his "fighting spirit" and capability to help the team challenge for trophies.

“You can see what Rashford is capable of. A lot," stated the Dutch tactician as per Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, expressing confidence in the forward.

“He started against Brentford with fighting spirit. When we all bring this we have a team that can play for trophies," he added.

Rashford has scored twice in the EFL Cup and once in the Europa League this season.

Since debuting for United in the 2015-16 season, Rashford has grown into a vital player for the club, known for his athleticism, speed, and versatile attacking abilities.

His most prolific season came in 2019-20, when he scored 22 goals in 44 appearances.

With 135 goals in 414 appearances, the 26-year-old is ranked 12th on Manchester United’s all-time top scorers list, just 10 goals behind club legend Cristiano Ronaldo.
