Barcelona coach Xavi has revelaed his side have quickly ‘turned the page’ since being humiliated by Real Madrid in the recent Copa del Rey semi-final second leg.
Real Madrid spanked Barcelona 4-0 at Camp Nou on Wednesday to progress to the Copa del Rey final at the expense of Xavi's men.
Karim Benzema as usual was at his flowing best and decimated Barca's defence with a second-half hat-trick.
The hosts created several inviting openings but Real were just the more clinical side and took their chances as soon a they came.
Xavi's Barcelona ready to bounce back
“We’ve analysed the reasons for the mistakes we made, especially in the first half,” Xavi said.
“In the first half we had to be ahead on the scoreboard, you can’t forgive so much and when you forgive, Madrid are the team that make you pay most dearly for it.”
The Blaugrana are already out of Europe and now out of the Copa. The only trophy available is the LaLiga title, which Xavi will hope to add to the Supercopa de Espana title they secured in January.
According to Xavi, the Copa del Rey disappointment has only heightened the team’s desire to win the league.
“We’ve turned the page and we’re now fully focused on La Liga,” he said.
“When we were knocked out of the Champions League we made a pact to win the league, it’s the fairest competition because it gives you the work of the whole season. We are focused on the eleven games.”
