Chipu have now finished rock-bottom of the 2024 World U-20 trophy with a loss to Hong Kong in the seventh place playoff.

The Kenya Under-20 rugby team, Chipu, concluded their World Junior Trophy campaign with a disappointing 34-14 loss to Hong Kong. This defeat marked their fourth consecutive loss in the tournament, placing them at the bottom of the standings.

The match began with promise for Chipu, who took an early lead with tries from Eugene Ojiambo and Andy Cole Omollo. The Kenyan side showed determination and skill, managing to penetrate the Hong Kong defense effectively in the initial stages of the game.

However, the second half saw a determined Hong Kong side stage a remarkable comeback. Hong Kong outscored Kenya 34-7 in this period, taking full advantage of Chipu's disciplinary issues.

Kenya conceded two yellow cards, which allowed Hong Kong to dominate possession and territory, ultimately leading to their victory.

Chipu's discipline was a major factor in the match, as they conceded two yellow cards. This gave Hong Kong a numerical advantage, which they utilized to control the game.

Despite valiant efforts, the Kenyan side was unable to contain the Hong Kong attack, especially in the second half.

Chipu started their campaign with a 24-7 loss to Uruguay in the opening match before going down 51-7 to Netherlands in the second pool match.

They ended their pool campaign with a 30-17 loss to the USA. Their rock-bottom finish is two places below the sixth place finish they achieved on home soil in 2023 when the tournament was held at the Nyayo National Stadium.
