Barely three weeks after signing for Serie A outfit Monza, Alejandro 'Papu' Gómez has been banned from playing football for a period of two years after being found guilty of doping.
The former Sevilla player tested positive for a prohibited substance in a test that was carried out in November 2022, days before the World Cup.
It all happened in a Sevilla training session when doctors carried out an anti-doping control test in the club’s camp.

It remains to be seen whether his ban could be reduced should the 35-year-old appeal for reduction of suspended time.
