As a part of preparations ahead of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, the World football governing body FIFA, have announced that the Women’s World Cup trophy, will embark on a tour across all 32 nations expected to participate in this year's tournament.
The 2023 tournament, to hold in Australia and New Zealand, is scheduled to kick off on July 20, and run through until August 20, hosting more countries than ever before.
It also becomes the first Women's World Cup to have more than one host nation.
Nigeria gets date Women's World Cup trophy arrival
According to FIFA, the tour aims to inspire people of all ages by ‘Going Beyond’ to celebrate the increasing popularity of women’s football.

The trophy will travel across the world, stopping in Asia, Africa, South America, North America, and Europe before arriving in each of the nine cities hosting the 2023 tournament in the last weeks before the event, which will start with Japan on February 25.
The trophy will then make its first appearance in Africa, by heading to Morocco on March 20, before arriving in Nigeria on March 26.
To highlight the growth of the women's game, and spread awareness of the Women's World Cup, selected women and girls who took part in Skills Drills will join FIFA Legends, local national team stars, and other well-known figures as the trophy arrives in the country.

Before it arrives in Nigeria, the Women's World Cup trophy is also expected to make appearances in South Africa and, Zambia.

“The FIFA Women’s World Cup Trophy Tour is a spectacular global celebration of the women’s game, giving fans, families and future football enthusiasts an opportunity to be inspired and become part of a truly special journey,” FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura says.

The Super Falcons are drawn in Group B of the 2023 tournament alongside co-hosts Australia, Olympic champions Canada and the Republic of Ireland.
It will be Nigeria's ninth appearance at the championships, an appearance record being shared with the United States, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Brazil, and Japan.
