Gor Mahia Queens have fully broken ties with Acakoro and will be making their Women National Super League debut againnst Bandari Queens.

Gor Mahia Queens, the women's team of FKF Premier League (FKFPL) giants Gor Mahia are already eyeing FKF Women Premier League ( FKFWPL) promotion ahead of their maiden Women National Super League (WNSL) campaign.

The WNSL debutants are eager to emulate their male counterparts and stamp their authority on the women's leagues.

With a newly formed squad, head coach Francis Ocholla is confident of a promising season ahead.

“We’ve been doing well in training, and all the players are in great shape physically and mentally,” Ocholla told Citizen Digital.

“Our upcoming match against Bandari Queens will be a great opportunity to assess our team as we make our NSL debut,”

The Mahia Queens will hope to kick-off their WNSL campaign when they travel to Mombasa for their opening fixture against Bandari Queens.

Ocholla is eying a strong start to the campaign as they eye promotion tho the women's top tier league.

“As a new team, it’s important for us to reinforce certain areas. We’ll be looking to sign more attackers and at least two defenders when the transfer window opens. Our ambition is to secure promotion to the KWPL next season,” explained Ocholla.

The tactician assures that the club has fully broken ties with Acakoro, the women's' team which was acquired by K'Ogalo and rebranded to Gor Mahia Queens.

“We’ve completely moved on from Acakoro. No player from that team is in our current lineup. This is a fresh start, and from the friendlies we’ve played so far, we see a lot of promise."

The FKFPL giants entered a transformative partnership with Acakoro Ladies in June of 2023 that oversaw the rebranding.

The move was a direct response to the Confederation of African Football (CAF)'s Club Licensing requirement, which mandates that clubs participating in inter-club competitions must include a women's team in their structure.
