K’Ogalo shift focus on the league and are hopeful a spirited attacking front will propel them to another win.

After their elimination from the 2023 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup, Gor Mahia hope to bounce back with a Premier League win against Sofapaka at the Kasarani Stadium on Wednesday.

The cup elimination may serve as a blessing in disguise, as they will now solely focus on their league campaign.

K’Ogalo are on a good run with regards to the title race; currently, a six-point gap separates them from second-placed Tusker.

Buoyed by the new signings and the impressive debuts by the Ugandan duo of Shafiq Kagimu and Patrick Kaddu, the giants are expected to pose a real threat to Batoto ba Mungu.

Going by Kaddu’s historic league debut, where he scored a hat-trick against Vihiga Bullets, head coach Johnathan McKinstry is expected to line the former Maroons and KCCA forward as the lead striker.

Should the 27-year-old get the nod, eyes will be keen to see whether Benson Omala will start on the bench once again, or if the coach decides to play with a two-pronged attacking arsenal comprising of the Premier League’s current top scorer and the new signing.

Meanwhile, Sofapaka are in dire need of a win as they hope to climb the ladder. Currently 12th, a victory will give their hope of finishing in the top half at the end of the season, a boost.

However, having conceded 23 goals, and Gor Mahia having scored a total of 33 goals, the 2009 league champions face the daunting task of stopping the record champions.

Meanwhile, after eliminating Gor Mahia from the domestic competition, Kakamega Homeboyz’s fans hope to see the same spirited energy during their midweek game against Posta Rangers.

The early kickoff duel is scheduled to be played at the Kasarani Annex, and Rangers hope to win in order to increase their chances of finishing in the top eight.

In another early game, Bidco United, who have been blowing and cold, will host Kariobangi Sharks at the Police Pavillion.

Relegation-threatened Wazito FC play host to sixth-placed and ambitious Kenya Police FC in Muhoroni.

Nzoia Sugar FC, who have seen their probability of being seen as title contenders dwindle incredibly, will face bottom-placed Vihiga Bullets at the Bukhungu Stadium.

As Ulinzi Stars – with 32 points - visit Mbaraki Stadium, they know a loss will give Bandari – ninth with 30 points - a chance to leapfrog them on the table.

Finally, KCB are hopeful of a victory against 15th-placed Nairobi City Stars. The Bankers are fifth, and a victory will keep them firmly within the bracket of the title contenders.
