After beating Shabana last Saturday, Muluya said he has “faith” that his side can win the title this season.

Kariobangi Sharks head coach William Muluya is optimistic that his charges can challenge for the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) title this season.

Sharks have won two and drawn two of their opening four fixtures, which has taken them to eight points and currently puts them third in the league, two points behind surprise league leaders Posta Rangers.

Speaking to the press after their last gasp win over Shabana in Homabay, Muluya said he has “faith” that his side can win the title this season, after managing to keep his side in the topflight for six years since they were promoted in 2017.

“That time is coming, but the important thing is to get the points that we can get right now,” Muluya said, “ We have to put our heads together and get as many wins as we can,” he added.

Muluya, who has creates a reputation for setting his team up to work the ball into the box in an attractive way, believes that “playing well” leads to “good results” which could help him in his hunt for the title.

“Playing well leads to good results and everything else will fall in place. I have a lot of faith.”

Since gaining promotion to the topflight for the 2018 league season, Sharks’ highest ever finish was the fifth place they registered in the 2020/2021 season.

Last season’s inconsistent run of form in the second leg dismantled what was an excellent first leg, where they had even become the most prolific side in the division at some point.

Muluya will be hoping the side will remain consistent if they are to stand a chance of achieving that dream.

The side did manage to win the 2018/2019 FKF Cup, which won them the right to play a friendly match against Everton in a packed Kasarani Stadium in July 2019.
