Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has explained his side's disappointing defeat to French side Lille in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
Real Madrid's stunning 36-match unbeaten streak came to a crushing end on Wednesday night, as Lille pulled off a shocking 1-0 victory in the Champions League.
Manager Carlo Ancelotti didn't mince words in his post-match assessment, admitting that Lille outperformed his team.
"Lille were better and deserved to win," Ancelotti confessed to reporters.
"We were bad and slow tonight."
He didn't hold back in critiquing his players' performance.
"We didn’t create, the possession was slow, no ideas. We were bad under every aspect."
Jonathan David scored the game's only goal from the penalty spot, denying Los Blancos the chance to take maximum points from their first two games in the competition.
Ancelotti will be hoping for a quick turnaround this weekend when the LaLiga champions welcome Villarreal to the Bernabeu.
