The Kenya international remains sidelined at Geita Gold FC, with fans eagerly awaiting his impactful defensive presence on the field.

Kenyan defender Salim Hamisi has yet to make his debut for his club Geita Gold FC in the ongoing Tanzania Premier League season.

Despite fan anticipation following his sign-on at the beginning of the season, the absence of the former Nzoia Sugar stalwart has been a puzzling aspect of Geita Gold's campaign.

Hamisi's transition to Geita Gold was met with much enthusiasm from fans after his contract with Nzoia Sugar came to a close.

Signing a one-year deal, expectations were high for the Kenyan defender to begin fortifying the backline of the Tanzanian outfit.

However, the prevailing question among supporters on why Hamisi has not featured in any matches has now been addressed by Geita Gold's media spokesperson Samuel Dida.

In an exclusive interview with Pulse Sports, Dida provided some clarity on the situation.

"Salim is still part of the team and has an ongoing contract with us. He has been training with us as well. We have not been able to field him due to some registration issues, but once that is sorted out, he will be eligible to play."

The mystery surrounding Hamisi's absence is rooted in administrative challenges rather than a question of talent or fitness.

As a player who has risen through the ranks of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) with an impressive stint at Posta Rangers, Hamisi's caliber as a player is not in dispute.

At Posta Rangers, he first came into the limelight, demonstrating a level of defensive skill that garnered him acclaim from football enthusiasts and pundits.

His subsequent tenure at Western Stima only emphasized his attributes as a central defender, and his time with Sony Sugar FC further accentuated his capabilities in holding the defensive line with surety and vigor.

The Geita Gold spokesperson assured fans, saying, "The club is doing everything possible to resolve the registration issues. We value Salim's presence in the team, and we're eager to see him bring his defensive expertise to our matches."

As the Tanzanian Premier League continues to evolve, attracting a plethora of talented individuals from the East African region, the delay in Hamisi's participation is a setback for both the player and Geita Gold FC.

Currently, the club is positioned precariously at 15th place in the league table after eight matches, with only six points to their name.

The need for Hamisi's defensive prowess is more pressing than ever as the team seeks to climb out of the bottom of the standings.
