The two Kenyan players have not received clearance to play in the season’s curtain-raiser which will feature Singida Fountain Gate, Yanga, Simba and Azam FC
Kenyan internationals Joash Onyango and Duke Abuya may be locked of the Tanzanian Community Shield popularly known as Ngao Ya Jamii if their registration will not have taken place by at least Thursday morning.
The Community Shield, which serves as the season’s curtain-raiser, has four teams namely; champions Yanga, Simba SC, Azam FC and Singida Fountain Gate FC.
All matches will be played at the CCM Mkwakwani Stadium in Tanga with the opening fixture set to take place on Wednesday evening between Yanga and Azam before Simba take on Singada on Thursday.
However, according to Tanzania Football Federation (TFF), only Azam will be able to field their foreign players, having submitted licenses so far while Yanga, Simba and Singida have not.

It means Onyango and Abuya, who signed for Singida last month, are ineligible to play in the matches whose final will be on August 13.
“Until now, it is only Azam who have submitted licenses for their 10 foreign players who are to play in the Community Shield in Tanga,” TFF said via a statement on Wednesday morning.
“Azam have provided clearance for the following: Ali Ahmada, Daniel Amoah, Kipre Junior, Prince Dube, Malickou Ndoye, Idrissu Abdulai, James Akamikoh, Idiris Mbombo, Alassane Diao and Cheick Sidebe. Singida Fountain Gate, Simba SC and Yanga have not submitted licenses for their foreign players.”
“No player will be allowed to play the Community Shield if they have not completed the due process.”

The Kenyan defender has started familiarising himself with his new surroundings following the end of his transfer saga.
The three clubs now are in a race against time to have their foreign contingent feature in the competition or keep them away to complete the process before the new Tanzania Premier League season begins.
Onyango joined Singida after three years with Simba while Abuya has linked up with the club from Kenyan side Kenya Police.
Former Gor Mahia defender Onyango has previous featured in the Community Shield with Simba, winning it in his first season at the club.
