Troost-Ekong reveals reason for moving to Saudi Arabia
Troost-Ekong revealed that the lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia was too good to resist, especially considering his age and the need to secure his future.
"I got an offer I couldn't turn down. I am 31, now I have to think about the big picture," he explained on the Counter Attack Podcast.
The former Watford player highlighted the competitive nature of the Saudi Premier League, highlighting the presence of world-class players like Benzema, Kante, and Fabinho.
"I think the Saudi Premier League is competitive, you see the names that are playing there... players that are world level," he said.
However, the former Watford and Udinese man emphasised that his decision was also driven by the desire to guarantee his future and provide for his family.
"Everybody talks about the opportunity you have there to guarantee your future, to think about my family, kids," he added.
Troost-Ekong has made two appearances since joining Al-Kholood, both ending in defeats, and will hope to turn things around when they take on Al Orubah at home this weekend.
