Gor Mahia are eying a successful title defense after a shaky start in the first half of the season.
Gor Mahia’s interim coach, Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno, has expressed optimism as the team gears up for the second half of the FKF Premier League season.
Despite a tumultuous start to the campaign under former Brazilian head coach Leonardo Neiva, who was dismissed in 2024, Otieno has managed to somewhat steady the ship, albeit without challenges, rekindling the club’s title ambitions.

Gor Mahia: Can the 21-time champions shake off a turbulent first leg to defend their league title?
FKF Premier League defending champions Gor Mahia will be looking to up the ante in their quest to rdefend their title in 2025.
“I think we are very happy at the moment because every player is available for selection,” said Otieno.
“We don’t have any injury issues at the moment, and I think we’ve also rested enough after playing eight matches in 21 days, which was very difficult for us. We managed to get as many points as we could, so now the focus shifts to the next round.”
The tactician believes that with better preparation time, Gor Mahia will showcase improved performances.
“We will be a very different team in terms of getting good performances in the business end because we will have at least four or five days of preparation before our next matches,” he added.
“I’m very confident that we have a very good team capable of retaining the championship this season.”
Gor Mahia, the 21-time FKF Premier League (FKFPL) champions, are eyeing a record 22nd title. They currently trail league leaders KCB by three points. KCB and Tusker FC are tied at 27 points, with KCB ahead on goal difference.
