Cole Palmer has proven to be Chelsea's go-to man with Chelsea's boss Enzo Maresca worried about the expectations placed on his shoulders.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has taken a measured stance regarding the burgeoning expectations surrounding star player Cole Palmer.

Despite Palmer's impressive performance this season, Maresca emphasizes the importance of not placing undue pressure on the young talent.

Palmer has emerged as a key figure for Chelsea, contributing significantly with six goals and five assists in the English Premier League (EPL) so far this season.

His stellar form follows an outstanding debut campaign, where he netted 22 goals and provided 11 assists, quickly establishing himself as a reliable talisman for the Blues.

However, Maresca is wary of the narrative that positions Palmer as the sole solution to Chelsea's challenges.

“If we think that Cole Palmer is going to solve all our problems, it’s a big mistake,” said Maresca via PA Sports as per Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The manager urged fans and analysts alike to recognize the collective effort of the squad, highlighting that it’s not just about the English man.

“We put all the pressure on his shoulders and that is wrong. We have many players that are doing well. It’s not just about Cole, it’s about the squad.”

Maresca’s remarks come at a critical time, as the Blues aim to build momentum in the league with a tricky fixture against Liverpool on Sunday at Anfield.

Despite cautioning against putting too much expectations on Palmer, the Italian will hope that Chelsea’s star man has his scoring boots on for the trip to Mersyside.

The Blues have an opportunity to close the gap on Liverpool with a win as they currently place 4 points ahead of them at the league summit with Manchester City and Arsenal levelled on 17 points in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Liverpool will be looking to make 5 out of 5 wins, having won 4 of their last league matches.
