Fans have accused Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen of being money-hungry and sacrificing potential career glory for a better pay day in Saudi Arabia
Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has been lambasted by fans after it was revealed that he was in talks for a potential move to Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal this summer.
Osimhen had previously vehemently denied any interest in joining the Saudi Pro League, but a lack of closing interest in the Napoli man from his preferred suitors means that he must now seek solutions elsewhere.
Osimhen linked to Saudi Arabia move after failed European dreams
The Super Eagles star had been on the radar of Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Arsenal, but all three clubs were unwilling to meet Napoli’s demand for the €120 million valuation of the Nigerian striker.
Given the lack of interest from other clubs and new Napoli coach Antonio Conte’s unwillingness to make Osimhen part of his squad, the club have been forced to find other suitors for Osimhen.
The club’s last hope to get a buyer for Osimhen is now from the Saudi Pro League, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that Napoli had agreed a deal with Al Hilal for the Nigerian striker with an agreement on the player’s part the last domino left to fall.
Fans slam Osimhen for alleged money-grabbing move
With Osimhen believed to be in concrete talks with Al-Hilal, the Super Eagles star has been slammed for his decision to potentially leave European football for Gulf money.
Fans on social media platform X labelled a potential move to Saudi Arabia a fall from grace from Osimhen, with others accusing the Napoli star of wasting his potential by leaving European football behind.
Despite the outcry, some fans have come out in support of Osimhen’s potential move to Al Hilal, saying the player is well within his rights to chase the bag if it suits him.
Regardless of the arguments for or against the move to Saudi Arabia, the final decision lies with Osimhen, who is believed to be looking for a substantial salary and a release clause in any contract with Al Hilal.
