He score 26 El Clasico goals in 18 seasons he was with the Catalan club

Barcelona thrashed fiercest Rivals Real Madrid 4-0 in the El Clasico over the weekend to record their first win in five matches against the record Champion League winners.

It is a result that will be a bitter pill to swallow for Real, owing to the manner in which the Carlo Ancelotti star-studded squad collapsed in front of their fans at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Leonel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo were rivals during their time in Spain but both departed La Liga. The pair however, have been monitoring the performances of their former clubs. Messi who scored 26 goals and provided 14 assists in El Clasico for Barcelona celebrated Barca's victory against Madrid in style with a heartwarming comment on X formerly Twitter. 

“What a beautiful victory!!” he wrote, delighting fans who remember his countless triumphs with the Catalan giants. Robert Lewandoski  grabbed a brace while Brazilian Raphinha was also on the scoresheet. Barca wonderkid Lamine Yamal completed the rout with a delightful right-footed thunderbolt that found the roof of the net.

Messi currently plays for Inter Miami in the US Major League Soccer. The 37-year-old is widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time. He set numerous records for individual accolades won throughout his professional footballing career such as eight Ballon d'Or awards.

He is the most decorated player in the history of professional football having won 45 team trophies, including twelve league titles, four UEFA Champions Leagues, two Copa Américas, and one FIFA World Cup. Messi spent over 18 seasons in Barcelona before he left for PSG in August 2021.
