The supporter died after a medical emergency during the West Brom match against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

A West Bromwich Albion supporter has tragically passed away following a medical emergency during their team's 3-2 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

The club confirmed the news in a statement, expressing their deep sorrow and extending condolences to the supporter's family.

The statement confirmed that the loss of the supporter is a devastating blow for the club.

"West Bromwich Albion Football Club is devastated to learn the tragic passing of a supporter following a medical emergency.

"The club has made contact with the supporter's family to pass on its condolences and asks that they are allowed to grieve privately. The thoughts of all of us will remain with the supporter's loved ones at this desperately sad time," the statement read.

The incident occurred during the first half of the Championship match at Hillsborough Stadium, prompting stewards and medical staff to rush to the fan's aid. The game was briefly halted while medical assistance was provided.

West Brom manager Carlos Corberan expressed his deep sadness over the news, saying, "Unfortunately we received the worst news. Our supporter passed away after today's game. All my thoughts are with his family in this unfortunate moment. RIP."  

Sheffield Wednesday defeated West Brom 3-2 at the Hillsborough Stadium.
