Weghorst joined United on a short-term loan from Burnley in the winter window, and has scored only two goals in 27 appearances.
Manchester United Dutch striker Wout Weghorst, has revealed that the club considers him "an asset" and that no one has informed him that a permanent summer transfer has been ruled out.
Weghorst joined United on a short-term loan from Burnley in the winter window, and has scored only two goals in 27 appearances.
While speaking to the Times, the lanky forward revealed that the club is very satisfied with him, contrary to what he reads from the media.
"In those [talks] the club said they are very satisfied with me,” Weghorst told The Times when asked about his future at the club.
“It has absolutely not been communicated with me that Man United don't want to continue with me. They appreciate my value. They believe I am absolutely an asset for the team."
“Of course I have heard different things [in the media]. I have to wait and see what happens and focus on our goals in the league and cup competitions.”

FOOTBALL Worst Manchester United player? Weghorst defends himself amid criticism
The striker continues to receive criticism for his low goal output.
However, there have been reports that Manchester United will not be acquiring Weghorst on a permanent basis.
Instead, the club is reportedly in the market for a proven No.9 to lead their line, with continued links to the likes of Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen.
Part of the problem for Weghorst during his time at Old Trafford has been his lack of a consistent position on the pitch.

United have not won or scored in their past three league matches.
Manager Erik ten Hag has deployed the Dutchman both as a central striker and a hard-running No.10. Weghorst added that he needs to know what role the club has in mind for him if they want to keep him.
"I'm a guy who likes to play football,” he said, adding; “When your appearances are reduced, as has been the case lately, you realize what you are missing.”
“If the club wants to keep me, I'll have to know what role they have in mind for me," he added.
Despite his uncertain future, Weghorst has become a Carabao Cup winner during his time at Old Trafford, and Manchester United are also through to the FA Cup final.
However, it remains to be seen whether the club will decide to make his loan move permanent or look elsewhere to bolster their attacking options this summer.
