Chelsea star Ben Chilwell claims the two-time Champions League winners deserve maximum points.

Chelsea vice-captain Ben Chilwell believes they were the superior team on the day in their match against Liverpool, suggesting they were unlucky to not grab maximum points.

The Blues played a 1-1 draw against Jurgen Klopp's side in Sunday evening's Premier League fixture at Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool started better and took the lead in the 18th minute of the game when Mohammed Salah found Luis Diaz in the box.

The Reds thought they made it two in the 31st minute of the game with a Salah strike, but VAR found him to be offside.

Chelsea wrestled control from their visitors and soon began to create chances of their own. New signing Axel Disasi grab an equaliser for the Blues in the 37th minute of the game from a set-piece situation, and when Ben Chilwell thought he gave his side the lead three minutes later, he was ruled offside.

What Chilwell said

The former Leicester City left-back thought the result was frustrating, as he believes his team played well enough to earn maximum points.

The Englishman pointed out that his team created several chances. He also highlighted the chance he failed to convert as one of the avenues his team failed to capitalise on their dominance.

"We had a lot more frustrating draws last season. This game was frustrating but in a different way because we were the better team. We created chances, the effort was brilliant but we just couldn't get that final goal. I should have scored in the second half as well so I was annoyed about that."
