Mikel Arteta has said Arsenal have to apologise for a poor performance that saw them lose 3-0 to Brighton on Sunday.
The defeat at the Emirates is a huge blow to the Gunners’ dream of wrestling the title from Manchester City, who beat Everton to earn crucial points in the title race.
After the loss to Brighton, Arsenal are now four points behind the Citizens, who need one win to claim the title again.
"Today we have to apologise because the performance that we had in the second half is not acceptable," Arteta said after the match.
"Mathematically, it is still possible, and this is football, but it is impossible to be thinking about that today," he added when asked about beating City to the title.
"We have to be thinking about the result and the performance we had in the second half, understand why, and obviously have a different reaction in the next game."

The Spaniard was disappointed by the manner in which Arsenal conceded goals and how they collapsed despite being a good team for the better part of the season.
"We conceded a goal when they are really direct in behind, and from there the team had no reaction. Obviously, when you give the silly goal away, the second one, then the team collapsed. The team had no answers," he added.
"You have to do a lot of good things, incredible things, to be second in this league over the last 10 months, but if this team is able to show that face as well, for sure, there are things that have to be addressed."
