Lookman's Atalanta exit
The 27-year-old was on his way out of La Dea's set-up last summer, or at least he wanted to be, but the club's hierarchy blocked his way, as they asked for a high compensation.
However, as Pulse Sports reported, their stance has since softened, and they are now prepared to lose the Nigerian, whose contract expires in 2026—with an option to extend a further year—for a fee in the region of €25-30 million, as they plan on bringing a younger replacement.
What Percassi said
It was believed that this exit could happen in January; however, Atalanta are flying in the league and Champions League, powered by Lookman, hence, Percassi is uninterested in a sale.
The Nigerian's winning goal against title rivals AC Milan yesterday was his eighth goal of the season in 11 starts, and it propelled Gian Piero Gasperini’s side to the top of the log. After the game, Percassi was asked about a possible Lookman sale, and he said, “Our plan is not to change anything in the January window.”
Meanwhile, Lookman only strengthens his already dried cement claim to clinching the CAF Men's Player of the Year Award, as he continues on his ascendency to greatness.
