Jose Mourinho's next career move could raise a few eyebrows, with the Portuguese manager set for an unexpected adventure
Former Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly in negotiations for a shock move to Turkish giants Besiktas.
After parting ways with Roma in mid-January, Mourinho has been considering his next career move carefully and could be set for an adventure in the Turkish SuperLig.
Besiktas confirm Mourinho talks
While another Turkish club, Fenerbahce had publicly expressed interest in Mourinho as part of a Presidential election campaign, but it is Besiktas that now seems to be in a better position to secure the Portuguese’s services.
Besiktas vice-president Huseyin Yucel revealed that the club made contact with Mourinho a month ago, and the Portuguese coach responded positively to their offer stating, "We contacted Jose Mourinho a month ago and he welcomed our offer. We already resolved the economic details and will go to Italy next week so we can meet face to face."
Yucel also mentioned that the wages for Mourinho would be covered by a sponsorship agreement, ensuring that the financial burden on the club would be minimal.
Mourinho to consider next career move
While Besiktas appears to be a strong contender for Mourinho's next managerial role, the Portuguese tactician has other options on the table. Clubs in Saudi Arabia and even a potential return to the Premier League have been mentioned as possible destinations for Mourinho.
The two-time Champions League winner appears to be undecided still regarding his future and could make a move to any of his current suitors this summer as well as consider new suitors like Bayern Munich and Manchester United if they were to make an approach for the former Porto manager.
