We can beat Bayern — Erik ten Hag bigs up his Manchester United ahead of UCL clash

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag backs his team to get the crucial victory against Bayern Munich.

With a victory being non-negotiable in Manchester United’s bid to reach the next round of the Champions League, the Red Devil’s host already qualified Bayern Munich, and Erik ten Hag is confident they can get the required win.

Manchester United's situation

The Manchester-based team have been shambolic in the UCL this season and find themselves rooted at the bottom of a group that includes Galatasaray and Copenhagen.

United have accumulated a paltry four points from five Group Stage games so far but given the inconsistencies of Galatasaray and Copenhagen themselves (five points each), qualifying for the knockout stage is still a possibility for the Premier League side.

A victory against Bayern Munich and a favourable result from the match between the Turkish side and the Danes would guarantee qualification, and Ten Hag believes they can complete the required task on their end by beating the mighty Bayern Munich at Old Trafford.

“We are able to beat any opponent. Tomorrow we have to win; we can do it,” he said, per Fabrizio Romano.

“The games against Chelsea and Everton. Even against Galatasaray. This team can perform at really high levels. I’m sure we are very good.

He went on to send a message to their match-going fans, beseeching them to be energetic in supporting the team on the day: “Old Trafford is not a nice play to come for an opponent. As long as I am here, we are here together. We have to energise them.”
