Ronaldo scored a late penalty to help Al-Nassr draw 2-2 against Al-Fateh.
Ronaldo’s injury-time penalty helped Al-Nassr equalise 2-2 to snatch a point against Al-Fateh.
The Portuguese started his second league game for A-Nassr as they went away to Al-Fateh’s Prince Abdullah bin Jalawi Stadium. The 37-year-old’s team were fresh off a defeat that knocked them out of the Saudi Cup, and they needed to come of with a response against the home team.
Ronaldo's goal sends Al Nassr top of the league
The home side went ahead first thanks to a strike from former Barcelona forward Christian Tello in the 12th minute.
They managed to keep the lead for the next 30 minutes before Ghislain Konan found Anderson Talisca, who in turn found the back of the net in the 42nd minute.
The home side pulled themselves ahead again in the 58th minute, for the second time in the game when Moroccan defender Marwane Saadane found fellow North African Sofiane Bendebka, who struck past Agustin Rossi in goal for Al-Nassr.
The home side were already entertaining thoughts of a victory before Ronaldo broke their hearts in the 90+3rd minute from the penalty spot. The five-time Balon d’Or winner calmly puts the ball across the line to steal a point for his team. Talisca was sent off in the 90+5th minute, but AL-Fateh did not have enough time to capitalise on the advantage.
The point takes Al-Nassr to the top of the league, level on points with Al-Shabab who have played one game more.
