Interestingly, Matano is a registered member of AFC Leopards SC and regularly votes during club elections.
Tusker FC coach Robert Matano showed that he’s got the moves when he joined his players in celebrating his team’s 1-0 win over AFC Leopards on Wednesday.
The brewers needed a stoppage time goal from Stewart Omondi to down a stubborn Leopards in a game that looked destined to end goalless and Matano could not resist a celebratory jig after the contest.
Matano joined his players in song and dance in the dressing room following the victory and looked anything like a 58-year-old as he rolled back the years in great style.
There was plenty of reasons for Matano to celebrate as the win saw his side narrow the gap between them and Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) leaders Gor Mahia to four points and with a game in hand over K’Ogalo.
Johnathan McKinstry’s men found the going tough against Sofapaka and could only manage a barren draw, the stalemate seeing Tusker close in, with Matano’s men now on 42 points from 21 matches, having played a game less than Gor.
Omondi popped up to poke home Lawrence Luvanda’s lofted ball as Tusker broke Leopards’ hearts after Ingwe had looked like they were close to securing a hard-fought point.
“We were expecting a tough match because Leopards are currently in good form,” Matano told the media after the match.
“Leopards are a tactical side and we were playing to win not to entertain. We have a number of injuries but I am happy the players coped,” he added.
Victory saw Tusker stretch their unbeaten run to seven league games following five wins and two draws over that period.
