Kylian Mbappe led celebrations in the PSG dressing room after their win over Marseille
Paris Saint Germain claimed a crucial and dominant 3-0 win away to Marseille in Ligue 1 to strengthen their title credentials and increase their lead to eight points at the top of the table.
PSG celebrate after beating Marseille
PSG were under pressure to deliver a landmark victory after struggling in important fixtures in recent weeks where they were knocked out of the Coupe de France against Marseille, lost in Ligue 1 to Monaco and lost the first leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 against Bayern Munich.
They delivered a statement win by beating Marseille 3-0 in their own backyard to show that they mean business this season, and the players celebrated wildly as they felt some pressure drop from their shoulders.
Mbappe leads PSG celebrations
Kylian Mbappe, who scored twice during the match, led celebrations in the dressing room as players congratulated each other for a job well done with high fives and hugs before the team, including Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos, and the injured Kimpembe, posed for a photograph.
There were also scenes after the game where PSG players met with ultras outside Marseille’s Velodrome and celebrated the team’s victory with them.
PSG’s win over Marseille gives them some breathing space in the race for their second consecutive Ligue 1 title and lessens the pressure on Christophe Galtier as PSG manager.
