Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre helps Leicester City beat Liverpool.
Super Falcons of Nigeria defender Ashleigh Plumptre was on target in an English Women's Super League game.
The 24-year-old Plumptre found the back of the net as Leicester City beat Liverpool 4-0 on Saturday, April 29, 2023.
Leicester City came into the clash against Liverpool with two straight losses.
The Foxes had now won in their last four, recording three losses and one draw against Everton.
However against Liverpool, Josephine Green converted a ball to her by Remy Siemsen to put Leicester City in front as early as the 15th minute.
Carrie Jones added a second for Leicester City in the 21st minute assisted by Hannah Cain as the Foxes went to the halftime break with a two-goal lead.
To start the second half Super Falcons defender Plumptre headed in a corner by Courtney Nevin to put Leicester three goals up in the 48th minute.
It was a bullet header at the start of the second half from Plumptre to give Leicester a commanding lead.
Deearna Goodwin added a fourth assisted by Nevin in additional time as Leicester City recorded a much-needed win.
It was a massive win for Plumptre's Leicester City as they move from the bottom of the standings to 10th position.
Leicester City could still get relegation as they are in a precious position after 18 games played in the league.
It was the first goal for Plumptre this season since she returned from injury.
She will aim to add to her tally when Leicester City travels to face Arsenal in their next league fixture scheduled for Friday, May 5, 2023.
