Titus Ssematimba, Marvin Nyanzi and Marvin Mukiibi are the players Luyinda will be counting on to step up and fill the void left by the 18-year-old.
Wakiso Giants will start life without exciting attacking midfielder Ibrahim Kasule when they face KCCA FC in the Uganda Premier League on Thursday.
Kasule joined Turkish side Ankara Keciörengücü on a three-and-half-year deal in the January transfer window. He had scored five goals and posted as many assists before his departure.
That is quite a loss for fourth-placed Wakiso but head coach John Luyinda Ayala will not focus on a player who is now miles away and not able to help the team.
It is those still at the club he will rely on to mount a challenge and have a say in the wide-open title race, in which Wakiso are four points behind log leaders KCCA.
“We lost one of our best players but that can’t stop us from performing,” Luyinda said ahead of his side’s clash with KCCA.
“We have plenty of players who can replicate what he was doing,” he added.
Titus Ssematimba, Marvin Nyanzi and Marvin Mukiibi are the players Luyinda will be counting on to step up and fill the void left by the 18-year-old.
“They can do their best to give us results, that’s what we feel and hope for,” Luyinda added.
Kasule was always surrounded by many other good players who made Wakiso tick and most times unplayable in front of the home crowd at the Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium.
The midfield base of Lawrence Bukenya and Rahmat Ssenfuka made it easy for the likes of Hassan Ssenyonjo, Kasule and Moses Aliro to thrive.
Tom Matsiko often came off the bench and his experience is valuable to Wakiso.
After 14 games of the first round, Wakiso find themselves fourth on the log, just four points behind KCCA and two off second-placed Vipers.
Victory over Morley Byekwaso’s KCCA will get Luyinda and his troops right back in the title race.
