While a four-point difference separates the two sides, Vipers are in third with 39 points, have played four games less, and will head to the summit should they win their games in hand.
Vipers SC will take their Uganda Premier League title defence to current leaders SC Villa in a top-of-the-table clash at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
While a four-point difference separates the two sides, Vipers are in third with 39 points, have played four games less, and will head to the summit should they win their games in hand.
The aforementioned adds even more to the significance of the match, and Vipers' head coach Alex Isabirye expects it tough on Saturday.
"They lead the table, and they're at home so that the game won't be easy," noted Isabirye in his address to the club media.
"They have a good set of coaches, good players, so that it will be a difficult one," they added.
The Venoms are steadily finding their feet after a slow start to the year and have now won three of the last five league matches, drawing the other two.
"We have also been preparing well, and we shall go there and put up a good performance because we need those three points," the former BUL boss added.
Despite losing their previous two games, Villa has had a decent second round that had them win six on the bounce.
"Both teams have good players, so it will go down to well the players are mental," Isabirye noted.
Vipers comfortably beat Villa in the first round at the St Mary's Stadium, Kitende, thanks to goals from Yunus Sentamu and Karim Watambala.
The two sides have met 21 times in the league in the past 11 years, dating back to 2012.
The Kitende outfit has the lion's share of victories, with ten compared to Villa's four. Seven encounters have ended in shared spoils.
