Real Madrid are reportedly not taking news that Vinicius Junior will miss out on the Ballon d'Or well
According to reports, Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior will not win the prestigious Ballon d’Or, which has prompted Los Blancos to boycott the award ceremony.
Vinicius loses out on Ballon d’Or
Despite being considered the overwhelming favourite for the award, recent reports have suggested that Vinicius will not be named the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner.
An earlier report had claimed that a leak of the final Ballon d’Or list named Vinicius the winner for 2024 ahead of Manchester City’s Rodri and Real Madrid teammate Jude Bellingham.
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti also appeared certain that the Brazilian star would be carting away this year’s honour, especially after his stunning performance against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League.
However, both prophecies appear to be mistaken given the latest report that the Brazilian star will not be given the award or even attending the ceremony.
Real Madrid boycott Ballon d’Or ceremony
As a result of the impending Ballon d’Or snub, Real Madrid are believed to be boycotting the ceremony, with none of their nominated stars set to make an appearance.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid’s contingent, which was to include Vinicius alongside Bellingham and Ancelotti, who are also in the running for awards, have chosen to stay back in Madrid instead of going to Paris for the ceremony.
The club’s disappointment in their best player from last season missing out on the Ballon d’Or award despite their triumphs in the UEFA Champions League and LaLiga is believed to be the reason for their impending absence.
