The former Real Madrid coach was seen on video confessing his undying love for Barcelona

Before he became the manager of their arch-rivals Real Madrid, there was a time when Jose Mourinho was a staunch fan of Barcelona, and even celebrated them winning the league title over Los Blancos.

Mourinho’s fairytale with Barcelona

The Portuguese managerial legend, whose latest adventure has taken him to Turkey with Fenerbahce, got his first real look into management with the Cules after joining Barcelona as a translator for English manager Bobby Robson.

Mourinho quickly developed from his role as a translator into one of Robson’s most important coaches in the first team, thanks to his unique insight and tactical knowledge.

For the first time in his career, Mourinho decided not to follow Robson out of a club, staying with Barcelona after the Englishman’s exit to work with Louis van Gaal, with whom he won back-to-back league titles as his assistant.

Mourinho celebrates Barcelona’s victories

A video has recently emerged of Mourinho celebrating one of his many trophies with Barcelona leaving fans shocked at how enamoured the Portuguese manager seems to be with the club that he ended up loathing later in his career.

Mourinho is seen alongside Robson celebrating the 1996/97 Copa del Rey trophy, one of the three titles that the pair won together.

In the video Mourinho is heard saying, “Today, tomorrow, and always with Barca in my heart,” a part of Barcelona’s famed slogan.

Despite his initial love for Barcelona, Mourinho’s feelings towards the club made a 180-degree turn when he failed to land the vacant head coach job at the Catalan club in 2008, losing out to club legend Pep Guardiola.
