Zambia will be in Ivory Coast next year for the Africa Cup of Nations after an emphatic performance against Ivory Coast at home.
The Copper Bullets of Zambia are through to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations slated for Ivory Coast next year.
Zambia sealed their place in the finals following an emphatic 3-0 destruction of host Ivory Coast in Ndola on Saturday.
Zambia tear Ivory Coast apart
In what was a one-sided affair, the Copper Bullets came fully armed and dispatched the Elephants in style.
It was a clinical display from the home side as a Serge Aurier own goal in the first half and two more goals in the second half proved to be the decisive difference.
The gates opened just after the half hour mark when Aurier netted in the wrong post to give Zambia the lead at the break.
Three minutes into the second half, Leicester City man Patson Daka doubled the advantage to put the Bullets in a comfortale position.
Kings Kangwa wrapped up the show with a third five minutes before the hour mark to give Zambia the decisive victory that they needed to seal a spot in next year’s tournament.
What it means
The Copper Bullets leapfrogged Ivory Coast to become Group H leaders with 12 points after five matches.
Ivory Coast move down to second with 10 points.
