Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama has hailed CF Montreal supporters for standing with him during his five-year stay as he leaves following the end of his deal.
Victor Wanyama has paid a glowing tribute to FC Montreal fans as he departs following the end of his contract.
Wanyama is among out-of-contract stars that Montreal opted to cut ties with and the former Kenyan international departs after five years at the club, having joined in March 2020 from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.
The 33-year-old thanked the Montreal supporters for standing with the team, explaining how he enjoyed staying in the Canadian city as he plied his trade in the MLS.

Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama is not ruling out the option of turning out alongside Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi after ending his five-year stay at CF Montreal.
“I am just here to say thank you for the great support you have shown us since I have been here. The best memory for the city has been the diversity of the people and the love from everywhere,” said Wanyama in his farewell message.
“It is really unique here in Montreal and I would say in Quebec. I know it is a special city so it has been a great ride. Five years, now it is time to call it time and say goodbye but it is never goodbye.
“We are all together, I am still a big fan of Montreal so I will still be following the team and supporting the team.”
Wanyama enjoyed his first three-and-a-half years at Montreal, becoming one of the key players but he fell down the pecking order in the last one-and-a-half years when he was rarely used.
He made 133 appearances while scoring six goals across all competitions for CF Montreal and won the Canadian Championship in 2021.
