Former Harambee Stars captain opened up on his wonder strike for Spurs against Liverpool.

Victor Wanyama has had an illustrious career, showcasing his talent across the globe and donning the Harambee Stars colours with distinction.

The former Harambee Stars captain showed his potential in Scotland with Celtic but it's in England where the defensive midfielder blossomed into one of the best in his position.

The combative midfielder chipped in with cracking goals both at Southampton and also with Tottenham Hotspur. The Former Montreal Impact player has finally given his verdict about the best goal he scored in his career.

In 2018, Wanyama scored a wonder goal for Spurs to make it 2-2 against Liverpool at White Hart Lane, a strike that ended up being voted the Goal of the Month. Wanyama said he watches that goal as it continues to evoke emotions, noting that it is special.

Asked whether he ever watches the goal again during his free time, Wanyama told Flashscore: “I always watch it, for some reason, it always comes up when I go to social media, it is always coming up, so I do always click (laughs), and put love on it because it was a special goal too.”

Wanyama said even matchday commentator Martin Taylor lauded him for the effort saying: “On my way home, I met Martin Tyler (commentator during the Liverpool game) at the airport, and he told me, what a nice goal! I responded to him. He gave me a good comment and I was really very happy about it.”

Wanyama was at North London last weekend with actress partner Serah Teshna and their young son, Arel, as Spurs beat Manchester United 1-0, sparking speculation of a comeback.

Wanyama retired from international football in 2021, marking the end of 14 years in Stars jersey after racking up 64 caps and scoring six goals.
