Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama has given his ex-club motivation ahead of their Premier League clash against Manchester United on Sunday.

Former Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama believes one win is all they need to turn around their season after what has been a poor campaign so far.

Ange Postecoglou’s team have exited two cup competitions in a week, having been eliminated from the League Cup as well as the FA Cup and in the Premier League, they are down in 14th position with 27 points.

Those are 13 points away from European football qualification positions and their next match is a tricky home clash against equally struggling Manchester United on Sunday.

However, Wanyama feels if they can beat the Red Devils, it will give them motivation kick start their season.

“I think they have a very talented group of players and a good team overall,” Wanyama told Telecomasia.net.

“It is a rough patch which is not uncommon in football and they have to use it as motivation to try to turn their season around.

“I believe one win will be enough to get their confidence back after the last two defeats in cup competitions. A win will get them back their rhythm and they will get back to winning ways.”

Wanyama played for Tottenham for over three-and-a-half years, having joined the club from Premier League rivals Southampton in the summer of 2016, before leaving in March 2020 to join MLS side CF Montreal.

The midfielder made 97 appearances and scored seven goals during his stint in North London, at a time when then coach Mauricio Pochettino had built a strong team that challenged for the Premier League title and reached the 2018-19 Champions League final.
