The striker is somewhat in a feud with the club after his penalty miss last time out against Bologna was made a mockery of by Napoli's official TikTok page.

Osimhen was reported to have rid his page of Napoli-related content and was captured entering the team hotel today, seemingly angry. The former Lille striker has now ended his goal drought, silencing detractors.

How it happened

The match had an end-to-end feel from the start, with both teams looking threatening when they attacked.

It was Rudi Garcia’s men who broke the deadlock, however, when Khivcha Kvaratskelia was fouled in the box. VAR reviewed the infringement and confirmed that it was indeed a penalty. Piotr Zielinski took responsibility for the corresponding penalty and fired into the bottom corner.

The second came 20 minutes after the Polish midfielder’s strike; this time it was the inevitable man, Victor Osimhen, getting himself on the scoresheet. The Nigerian striker received an eye-of-the-needle pass from Politano, and in turn, he arrowed the ball into the bottom right corner.

Kvarastskhelia, who is on a longer drought in front of goal, also ended his rut, scoring for the first time since March to give Napoli a 3-0 lead in the 74th minute.

Nigeria’s Isaac Success assisted Lazar Samardzic to pull one back for the visitors, but Napoli struck again as Giovanni Simeone restored the three-goal advantage.

Napoli ended their three-game run without a win, climbing up to 5th on the Serie A log as they look to get their title defence back on track.
