Jonathan Alukwu known as Barbie Boy netted his ninth goal of the season in the NPFL and mimicked Super Eagles star Victor Boniface's celebration.

Sporting Lagos striker Jonathan Alukwu has joined German star Antonio Rudiger to pay tribute to Nigeria and Super Eagles star Victor Boniface after his two-goal salvo in the NPFL relegation clash against Bayelsa United.

The forward, nicknamed 'Barbie Boy', took his tally for the season to nine goals with a well-taken brace in the 2-2 draw in Yenagoa.

While his goals were as cheeky as they come, his celebration after one of the strikes caught the eye, as Alukwu replicated the trademark fanfare of red-hot Super Eagles frontman Boniface.

The Bayer Leverkusen hitman has taken European football by storm this season, netting 21 goals and 9 assists while introducing a new mazy jig as his signature dance routine.

And 'Barbie Boy' seemed to pay homage to the in-form 23-year-old with his rendition of the Boniface shuffle after his first goal against Bayelsa joining a growing list that includes Real Madrid's Rudiger.

While the relegation dog-fight may seem worlds away from Boniface's battle to fire Nigeria to the 2026 World Cup, Alukwu's cheekily choreographed celebration was a nice touch of showmanship.

The problem for the Sporting Lagos man was his double salvo ultimately counted for little, as Bassey John's own two-goal riposte earned the home side a share of the spoils.

But while the result didn't go his way, Alukwu can at least console himself that he temporarily took the limelight with his admirable Boniface mimicry.

With Nigerian football crying out for some fresh characters to get fans onside, the NPFL's very own ode to the Super Eagles star won't have gone unnoticed even in a forgettable 2-2 draw.
