SUPL Kirya urges Villa fans, bosses to remain patient despite title set back
The record StarTimes Uganda Premier League champions have surprised many, rising from near oblivion to be involved in a title race that they could never have imagined of at the start of the season.
“As you are undoubtedly aware, the SUPL is in its final stages of conclusion with the title not yet decided with 4 matches (on average) to go,” a statement from the UPL CEO Bainamani Bernard Bampaire explains.
Equal Opportunity
“In the spirit of fair play and equal opportunity, UPL Secretariat has made the following fixture adjustments to ensure the last three matches involving KCCA FC, SC Villa and Vipers SC are played on the same date and time.”
The Jogoos lead the table with 46 points from 25 games; Vipers follow with 45 from 23 outings, while KCCA dropped to third with the same number of points after 24 games.
According to the original fixtures and the unbalanced composition, Villa was meant to complete their schedule on Saturday 20th, May on match day 29 and watch as their rivals play a week later on the ultimate day of the season.
To avoid a case of manipulation, the UPL has adjusted the fixture so that all three contenders finish on the same day.
URA’s match against Gaddafi, which had been slated for the final day, will now be played on the penultimate day and then Villa complete their season against the Tax Collectors.
