Nkumba were beaten 3-1 by last season's runners-up, St. Lawrence, the previous week, but head coach Suleiman Bbossa has expressed optimism for a much better result on Tuesday at their home ground.

Following their opening day defeat to St Lawrence University, Nkumba will look for redemption when they host Gulu in the Pepsi University Football League.

Nkumba were beaten 3-1 by last season's runners-up, St. Lawrence, the previous week, but head coach Suleiman Bbossa has expressed optimism for a much better result on Tuesday at their home ground.

"Yes, we lacked rhythm (in the first game) and failed to take control but we learnt our lessons from the game, which we have been correcting all week long," Bbossa told the press.

"And I believe we shall do much better against our next opponent," he added when asked about the Gulu task.

“The team’s attitude is high, and we must win at home, though there is still a lot of work to be done”, Bbossa added.

On the other hand, Gulu University, who opened their season with a one-all stalemate against International University of East Africa, are also in a hunt for their maiden away win ever.

"The team come into the game in good shape," head coach Robert Omony said. "We have trained and adjusted things after the IUEA game.

“Playing away has its challenges, and it’s always tough and difficult for us, but the mechanism and endurance drills we have been undergoing will help us."

Gulu occupy second place in Group E with one point, while Nkumba rock the bottom with no single point.
