Ulinzi Stars have dismissed coach Anthony ‘Modo’ Kimani after a disappointing 12th-place finish in the FKF Premier League season.

Four-time FKF Premier League champions Ulinzi Stars have announced the departure of head coach Anthony ‘Modo’ Kimani following a notably underwhelming season.

The Soldiers confirmed that the separation comes after the club's disappointing 12th-place finish in the most recent league standings.

In a statement, the club expressed its gratitude towards Kimani for his efforts and dedication during his tenure.

"Ulinzi wishes to express its gratitude to Anthony Kimani for his contribution to the Club during his tenure as Head Coach. Anthony Kimani will forever be part of the Ulinzi Family, and the club wishes him all of the very best with his future endeavors," the statement read.

Kimani, who took the reins from Bernard Mwalala at the onset of the 2023/2024 season, managed the team through 34 matches.

Under his guidance, Ulinzi Stars won 9 games, drew 10, and suffered 15 losses, culminating in a goal difference of -4 and a total of 39 points.

Reflecting on his stint with the team, Kimani shared a heartfelt message.

"This past season has been an incredible journey, filled with challenges and triumphs, and it has given us countless memories that I will forever cherish.

"Although my time here has been brief, the connections and experiences we've shared will always stay with me. I firmly believe in this team's potential and am confident that great things lie ahead for all of you," he wrote.

Despite his optimistic outlook, the club's performance this season marked a decline from the previous year, where they finished in ninth place.

The lack of consistent performance and inability to challenge for any trophies were seen as key factors leading to the decision to seek new leadership.

Ulinzi Stars who last clinched the Premier League title back in 2010 are reportedly looking to appoint a new coach soon.

There are strong indications that a former coach at the club Dunstan Nyaudo might be making a return.

The upcoming weeks will be crucial as the club prepares to announce its new head coach and strategize for the forthcoming season.
