Denis Onyango – Mamelodi Sundowns
The towering Sundowns' shot-stopper and ex-Uganda Cranes skipper observed from the sidelines as his team suffered a loss to Orlando Pirates in the MTN 8 final at Moses Mabhinda Stadium.
Following a stalemate that stretched through 90 minutes and extra time, the game shifted to penalties. Pirates clinched the win 3-2, thanks in large part to their goalkeeper Sipho Chaine who made three decisive saves.
Aucho Khalid – Young Africans
Aucho, the Uganda Cranes' vice-captain, was pivotal in Young Africans' 3-0 thumping of Geita Gold in the Tanzania Premier League. He was on the pitch for the entirety of the match.
Rogers Mugisha – Gor Mahia
The former Uganda Hippos striker had his inaugural derby triumph with K’Ogalo. They celebrated a 2-0 win over their fierce rivals, AFC Leopards, in the Mashemeji Derby. Forward Benson Omalla stole the show, netting both goals.
Bevis Mugabi – Motherwell FC
The formidable Uganda Cranes defender played for Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership but couldn't steer his team away from a 2-0 setback against Livingstone. This marks Motherwell's fourth consecutive league defeat.
Ibrahim Kasule, Frank Ssebuufu – New York Red Bulls II
Both Ibrahim Kasule and Frank Ssebuufu took to the field on Sunday morning, yet they couldn't prevent New York Red Bulls II's 2-1 loss to New England II in the MLS NEXT PRO League. Unfortunately, neither player contributed a goal.
Joackim Ojera, Charles Bbaale – Rayon Sport
This Ugandan pair represented Rwandan club Rayon Sport. Their match on Saturday against Marines FC culminated in a 2-2 draw.
Both Ojera and Bbaale began the game, and notably, Ojera netted Rayon's second goal. However, a late equalizer from Marines meant the teams shared the spoils. After the tie, head coach Yamen Zelfani amicably parted ways with the club.
Taddeo Lwanga – APR FC
Lwanga and his APR FC teammates secured a 2-1 victory against Musanze on Friday. This win comes as a relief after their crushing 6-1 loss to Egyptian heavyweights Pyramids FC in the CAF Champions League's second preliminary round.
