The FKF Premier League champions are reportedly interested in signing a top Ugandan striker to boost their squad.

Record FKF Premier League champions Gor Mahia are reportedly setting their sights on Ugandan international Denis Omedi as their newest potential acquisition.

Omedi, who has become a key player for Kitara FC, still has one year remaining on his contract with the Ugandan club, which he joined at the beginning of the previous season.

According to Swift Sports Uganda, there is a strong interest from Gor Mahia in securing Omedi's services.

This news surfaced just days after rumors that DR Congo international Gedeon Bendeka had inked a pre-contract with the Kenyan giants.

Omedi's impressive performance last season, where he netted 14 league goals—only three goals shy of KCCA FC’s Muhammad Shaban, the league's top scorer with 17 goals—has certainly caught the eye of several top clubs.

Additionally, his pivotal role in Kitara’s first Stanbic Uganda Cup victory, where they triumphed over NEC FC in the finals held at Muteesa II Stadium, has added to his rising profile.

The Ugandan striker also shone internationally, representing the Uganda Cranes in their World Cup qualifying matches against Botswana and Algeria at the Mandela National Stadium.

His crucial assist for Shaban's winning goal against Botswana further highlighted his capability on the international stage.

Before his time at Kitara FC, Omedi was a standout performer for Booma FC, where he was the top scorer in the FUFA Big League during the 2022/23 season, racking up 22 goals.

Gor Mahia's interest in Omedi comes at a time when they are looking to bolster their squad for the upcoming season.

The club has a rich history of success, having clinched the FKFPL title for the 21st time last season under the guidance of former Uganda Cranes coach Jonathan McKinstry, who has since taken up a role with The Gambia national team.

K'Ogalo consistent success has made it a desirable destination for top talents across the region and the potential addition of Omedi could bolster their attacking options as they prepare for the upcoming season.
