Real Madrid will be without French midfield dynamo for UEFA Super Cup clash against Atlanta.

Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has been ruled out of the UEFA Super Cup clash against Atalanta on Wednesday after he was injured by a teammate in training.

Los Blancos, as Champions of Europe, are set to play in the Super Cup final against Europa League winners Atalanta on August 14th. However, Carlo Ancelotti’s side will not be counting on one of their key players after a freak injury incident.

What happened

The Real Madrid players strolled out onto the National Stadium in Warsaw, Poland, today to train, as they familiarised themselves with the pitch ahead of the big night.

During a rondo, Aurelien Tchouameni slipped in an attempt to win the ball and landed on Camavinga’s ankles. In a video that made the rounds on the internet, the player screamed in pain after the tackle and was immediately taken out of training, suggesting a serious injury.

According to COPE’s Miguel Angel Diaz, it has been determined that the injury sustained was not as serious as feared; however, further tests, scheduled for Thursday, are required before a return date is set. Per the report, he is definitely ruled out of the Super Cup clash.

Speaking on the Super Cup clash, Super Eagles Ademola Lookman, whose hat-trick qualified Atalanta for the scheduled clash, assured that he and his teammates were prepared to face the European Champions.

He believes they are capable of being the first Europa League winners to win the UEFA Super Cup since Atletico Madrid defeated Real Madrid in 2018.
