Belgium, Hungary Poland and Serbia could potentially be replaced by Czech Republic, Greece, Norway and Turkey in the UEFA Nations League but Scotland have a tough test against Portugal.

As Scotland prepare to face Portugal in the UEFA Nations League, the atmosphere is thick with anticipation and urgency.

After suffering a disheartening 2-1 defeat against Croatia, which saw an injury-time equaliser disallowed, Scotland find themselves in a precarious position, facing a third consecutive loss in the tournament.

This recent setback has put Steve Clarke’s men on the brink of relegation back to League B, a stark contrast to the high hopes they had at the start of the campaign.

Scotland's struggles have been evident in their previous matches, having lost their opening games against Poland (3-2) and Portugal (2-1), both of which saw late goals conceded after the 85th minute.

In contrast, Portugal enter the match with a perfect record in this Nations League cycle, boasting three wins, including a recent 3-1 victory over Poland.

Having previously lifted the UNL title in the inaugural 2018/19 season, the Portuguese side is well-versed with the pressures of high-stakes matches.

Coach Roberto Martínez expressed satisfaction with his team’s control during the Poland game, emphasizing the need for consistency as they look to secure their spot in the knockout stages.

Ranked 44 places higher than Scotland according to FIFA, Portugal are expected to dominate the match.

Their away record in the Nations League is impressive, with only one loss from nine games (W5, D3), and they have consistently scored at least twice in those victories.

The last time Portugal visited Glasgow, they secured a 3-1 win, and a similar result is a strong possibility given their current form.

Poland face Croatia after losing to Portugal 3-1. Poland and Scotland both face relegation to league B as Portugal and Croatia will move on to the play-offs.

Serbia will host Spain facing the risk of relegation as Denmark are two points ahead. Switzerland will be hoping to bag their first win following three consecutive defeats.

In League C Balarus, Losovo, Luithuania and Northern Ireland will host their opponents, Luxembourg, Cyprus, Romania and Bulgaria respectively.

Sweden, Romania, Belarus and North Macedonia are all likely to be promoted to League B as they currently sit top of their groups in League C.
