Bayern Munich's Julian Nagelsmann has reacted positively to the difficult UEFA Champions League draw
Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann has reacted to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals and semifinals draw, which put his side on the harder side of the bracket.
Bayern Munich were drawn against fellow favourites, Manchester City in the quarterfinals and could face either Real Madrid or Chelsea in the semifinal but Nanglesmann remains optimistic that Bayern Munich can still go on to win the Champions League.
Nagelsmann wants to win valuable Champions League with tough path
Speaking ahead of Bayern Munich’s crunch weekend game against Bayer Leverkusen, Nagelsmann took some time to speak about the Champions League draws, saying his team welcomed the challenge, and that winning the tournament despite the tough draw would make the victory even sweeter.
"It's a good, challenging draw. Nagelsman said, before adding, “You can't say we were lucky with the draw when we win the Champions League.
“The group stage was difficult, then PSG, City, and Real or Chelsea in the semis. It would be an extremely valuable triumph. Real won it last year, we want to do it this year. It gives me a lot of energy and anticipation.
Nagelsmann respects Erling Haaland
The 35-year-old coach also spoke about the possibility of facing an old foe in Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, who joined the Cityzens from Borussia Dortmund this summer after scoring five times against Bayern Munich in seven matches against them.
Nagelsmann spoke of his respect for Haaalnd, saying, "He is an exceptionally good player who is extremely dangerous as we saw again recently. He has extreme quality in terms of speed and physicality. He's uncomfortable to defend. But we also have some good offensive players."
Haaland is currently the top scorer in the UCL with 10 goals after scoring five times against another Bundesliga opponent, RB Leipzig, in the round of 16.
