En route to a fourth-place finish at the 2015 edition of the U-17 AFCON in Niger Republic, Napoli's Victor Osimhen had scored four goals for Nigeria's Golden Eaglets.
Cameroon's Dorinel Yondjo has revealed that his intention at the 2023 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations is the surpass the goalscoring record currently being held by Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen.
Enroute to a fourth-place finish at the 2015 edition of the U-17 AFCON in Niger Republic, Osimhen had scored four goals for Nigeria, three of which came in the group stage, and the fourth, in the third place match where the Golden Eaglets lost 3-1 to Guinea.

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has been subjected to recent transfer rumours as he is wanted by both Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.

Speaking in an interview with CAF, the youngster revealed that the existing goalscoring record was something he could surpass, and he was also hoping to follow Osimhen's post-tournament trajectory.
“Coming to this competition, to tell you the truth, I did some research to know the very recent top scorers of this tournament,” Yondjo said on the CAF website.
“I realized that the best had never exceeded four goals and I will try to work to break this record.
“I have followed the story of Victor (Osimhen). After shining with Nigeria during the 2015 U17 AFCON and the FIFA World Cup, he signed for Wolfsburg in Germany and my dream is also to be able to sign for a big club after this competition.”

U-17 AFCON: NFF President challenges Golden Eaglets ahead of Morocco clash
The Golden Eaglets opened their campaign in the tournament on Sunday by defeating Zambia 1-0 at the Mohamed Hamlaoui Stadium in Constantine.
U-17 AFCON serving as qualifier for U-17 World Cup
The top two teams from each of the three groups in the 12-nation tournament will advance to the quarterfinals along with the top two third-place teams.
The four semifinalists from the quarterfinals will therefore automatically qualify to represent Africa at this year's FIFA U-17 World Cup, which is being held in Peru.
Meanwhile, Nigeria's Flying Eagles who are two-time champions of the U-17 AFCON having won the competition in 2001 and 2007, will take on hosts Algeria in their second group game on Wednesday.
