Salim Babu has picked several familiar faces from the side that reached the finals of the CECAFA U18 Championships last year in his provisional squad for the AFCON U20 qualifiers.
Kenya U-20 coach Salim Babu has unveiled his provisional squad for the upcoming AFCON U-20 qualifiers, set to take place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from October 6-20, 2024.
The Harambee Stars' junior side, Rising Stars, will be aiming to secure a spot in the continental tournament, competing in Group A alongside Tanzania, Rwanda, Sudan, and Djibouti.
The team will begin a residential training camp in Nairobi on September 22, with preparations ramping up ahead of their October 4 departure for Tanzania. Babu will be assisted by Anthony Akhulia as they guide the young talents through this critical qualifying stage.

FOOTBALL CECAFA u18: The Junior Stars capable of storming into Harambee Stars
The five Junior Stars players that could become handy prospects for Harambee Stars in future despite final set-back against Uganda.
Headlining the squad is Stanley Wilson, who currently plies his trade in Sweden's top-tier with AIK.
He is joined by Amos Wanjala, who recently made a move to Spain's Athletic Club Torrellano, and Aldrine Kibet from Nastic Soccer Academy. Tyron Kariuki, who impressed during his call-up for the Four Nations Tournament in Malawi last March, also makes the squad.
Babu's team also includes standout students who have shined in recent school games. Notable names are Humphrey Aroko and Meguel Osotsi from Highway Secondary School, Iran Mushindi, Houstin Oluoch, and Harrison Amalemba from Musingu High, Hamisi Oteno from Goseta, and Austine Odongo of Ebwali Secondary. Bandari's William Gitamu, who has caught the eye with his speed and directness, has also been included.
With a mix of international experience and rising stars from local academies and schools, Coach Babu will be hoping his side can rise to the challenge and secure qualification for AFCON U-20.
