The Brewers made to the last eight after eliminating little-known Rainbow FC.

Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano is eyeing a slot in the CAF Confederation Cup by winning the FKF Cup terming the competition as a shorter route to continental football.

The Brewers were made to sweat before reaching the last eight by Division One side Rainbow FC as they had to come from two goals down to win the five-goal thriller in the Round of 16.

With the winner of the FKF Cup heading to the CAF Confederation Cup qualifiers, Matano admitted that the tournament is an easier route to continental football.

"It's a shortcut to continental football, every team is trying to put a lot of effort, the league is long so you can not know but this is shorter and few matches," said Matano.

Tusker has lost one game in their last 12 matches, making them one of the favorites to cruise into the semis, but their mentor has downplayed those claims.

“You know, in the knockout tournament, any team can win as it is not like the league, which is a marathon, but this one, you take your chances, and if you win the match, you can be closer to qualifying for the final.

"FKF Cup is a competitive tournament where a team can win, as no team is stronger than the other.

"You get your chances, and if you utilize them, you can win the game. The league is long, and you can know, and this one is a shorter route to continental matches,” he said.

Tusker will go into the match just days after a 1-0 loss to Nzoia Sugar in the top-flight league.

In their last five outings, the Brewers scored seven goals, won four times, and lost once.
