Tusker midfielder Chris Erambo hopes his maiden goal for the brewers is the first of many as they look to climb up the table

Tusker midfielder Chris Erambo has expressed pride in scoring his maiden FKFPL goal for the club since signing back in late August.

Erambo’s strike played a key part in helping Tusker beat Nzoia Sugar 2-0 at the Sudi Stadium on Sunday, which has now seen them climb up to seventh place and nine points behind leaders Gor Mahia.

Erambo and Mike Oduor scored the goals for the Brewers, in a match which was halted for roughly 18 minutes early in the second half due to crowd trouble.

A section of the fans started throwing objects on the pitch after substitute goalkeeper Daniel Omuse was sent off just four minutes into the second half.

As the last line of defence, Omuse came off his line and handled an effort from Eric Kapaito, with the referee dishing a straight red card. The goalkeeper had just come on for his first appearance of the season after Nzoia coach Godfrey ‘Solo’ Oduor had decided to make a change with Bernard Onunga conceding what he saw as soft goals in the first half.

However, Erambo thanked God for the exposure he has been given in the Premier League, and he has added that he hopes he can keep getting better.

“I want to thank God because it has been a good exposure to have scored my first goal in the Premier League,” Erambo said.

“I was hoping I would get on the scoresheet, like against Posta Rangers a week ago but I think this is the right time and I will go from there.

“I have done well for 70 percent of the games and I hope to continue improving.”

Erambo believes Tusker can get back to where it belongs, which is being at the height of challenging for the title after a slow start to the season.

“My goal helped the team to get all the three points and now we will continue building from there to ensure we get the name of the club back to where it belongs!”

Tusker had two goals disallowed, both by Eric Kapaito. The forward scored in the first half from an Oduor cross but was adjudged to have been in an offside position.

He scored another late in the second half when he connected to a Daniel Sakari cross from the right, but was adjudged to have fouled Shikokoti in goal before scoring.

Tusker will face Kenya Police in their next game at the Ruaraka Grounds on Wednesday
